Thomas Edison screwed Tesla out of millions of dollars, after Tesla designed and built his power plants.

She was right. Don't believe the biography in your school library. Eddy did even worse things, too...

Well, Thomas Edison was a dick. He had some amazing inventions, he also stole some amazing inventions from Nicholas Tesla, Joseph Swan, William Sawyer, and others. Some of the other inventions that are credited to Edison were actually invented by those who worked for him. He tried to portray AC current as dangerous and in doing so, was developed and promoted the electric chair as a demonstration of the dangerousness of DC current. (And that was despite his opposition to capital punishment-he put his pocketbook ahead of his morals).

Well, ELECTROCUTING INNOCENT ANIMALS (including an ELEPHANT) with AC current just to spread propaganda on how dangerous his competitor's technology was (Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla) DOES INDEED make you kind of a DICK.

In all fairness, he really kinda was.

Edison often took full credit for all kinds of things (such as the incandescent light bulb) with whose invention he was only peripherally involved.

Also, he had a nasty habit of electrocuting stray cats and dogs, cattle, horses, and even an elephant -- all just to prove some totally bogus point.
